Connect

Connect Siloe to your AI app

Ask Claude or ChatGPT what you saved about something, and it pulls the post back up. You set this up once.

The address

That address and a sign in with your Siloe account is the whole setup. There is no API key to generate and nothing to paste back into Siloe. Reading your library needs Siloe Pro; connecting does not, so you can walk through this now and upgrade when it asks.

Set it up

Pick the app you use.

On a computer, in a browser or the desktop app. Works on any Claude plan. Free accounts can keep one connector.

  1. Open Claude on a computer. The mobile apps cannot add connectors, though they can use one once it exists.
  2. Go to Customize, then Connectors, then Add custom connector.
  3. Paste the Siloe address and click Add.
  4. Sign in with your Siloe account.Claude sends you to Siloe to approve the connection.
  5. Turn Siloe on in a chat. The plus menu in the message box, then Connectors. A saved connector stays off until you do this.

To disconnect later: Remove it under Customize, then Connectors.

Try it

Once it is connected, the library answers in plain language. Things to ask:

  • What did I bookmark about sourdough?
  • Find the thread I saved about pricing a solo app and pull up the whole post.
  • Go through everything I saved this month and group it into themes.
  • Make a collection called Reading List and file the design posts I saved into it.

What it can and cannot do

It can

  • Search everything you saved, by word or by meaning.
  • Open a single post in full, with its text and its author.
  • Read the text recognized inside the images you saved.
  • Make collections and file bookmarks into them.

It cannot

  • Delete or unsave a bookmark. There is no tool for it.
  • Open your Vault, or any post you have hidden.
  • Post anything, or reach the social accounts you linked to Siloe.
  • Delete a collection unless you give it the exact name. The bookmarks inside stay either way.

Every read is scoped to your own account, and each tool tells the AI app up front whether it only reads or can change something, so the app can ask you before anything happens.

Your data

The connection reads the synced copy of your library: the posts you saved, their text, their authors, any text recognized inside their images, and your collection names. It reads them when an AI app asks a question and returns only what answers it.

Access uses OAuth. You approve the connection on a Siloe page, the AI app holds a token rather than your password, and removing the connector in that app ends its access.

Siloe does not store your conversations with the AI app and never sees them. What the AI app does with an answer is governed by that company's own policies, so a post you pull into a chat lives under their terms once it is there. Nothing from your library is sold or used to train models. The full picture is in the privacy policy.

Questions

Do I need Siloe Pro?

Yes. Reading your library from another app is part of Siloe Pro. You can add the connector on any plan, and it will ask you to upgrade the first time an AI app reads something.

Can I set this up from my phone?

Not the setup itself. Adding a connector needs a computer in every app that supports them today. Once it is set up there, it works in the mobile apps too.

Can it change or delete my bookmarks?

No. There is no tool to delete, unsave, or edit a bookmark. Collections are the one thing it can change: it can make one, file bookmarks into it, and take them out again. The bookmarks themselves stay in your library either way.

Can it see my Vault?

No. Your Vault and anything you have hidden are left out of every answer, including a direct lookup by id.

Do the keyword filters I set in Siloe apply?

No. Filters are kept on your device, so an AI app can still reach a post you filtered out in the app. Posts marked sensitive are the exception: they stay out of search results unless the app asks for them.

It connects, but finds nothing.

AI apps read the synced copy of your library. Open Siloe, let it finish syncing, and try again.
