Spent way too long fixing a broken table and a mangled link in a post that was already live. So here's the quick checklist I now run before hitting publish.
Why bother previewing at all? A post that looks clean in the editor can render completely differently once it's on the feed, especially formatting like:
- bold and italic for emphasis
- nested lists and
inline code - spoilers like the twist ending that must stay hidden
- footnotes and units in superscript, e.g. 10th place
Reddit uses its own markdown flavor, so old.reddit and new Reddit don't always agree. The official formatting guide is handy, and r/help is great when something looks off.
Big thanks to u/formatting_nerd for the table tip. Preview first, publish once.
